Moss, Mike’s third solo album, comes only two short years after The Green Sparrow, and about half of its songs stem from the same 50-song burst of creativity that seeded that album.  His (Mike’s, that is, the guy whose website this is) hope was to transcend some of his influences even more – to be more Mike-ish, and more accessible at the same time. It’s an album that lets each song dictate its needs without the clutter of overproduction. Sometimes that “need” is to be lounging in a satin sheet waterbed of sonic texture. Other times, just the fuckin’ song. Let me be a fuckin’ song. Well, it worked. This one is Mike’s personal favorite to date.
